As a young woman, I was always fascinated by how complex, how intricate, and how perfect Yahweh's Creation was. I also wanted to serve others. Working as a Cardio-Pulmonary technician at a local hospital; I observed the life and death drama of the Neonatal Intensive Care unit and I felt deeply the pain of the tiny babies struggling to live amongst wires, tubes, bright lights and stainless steel. Surely, Yahweh had a better plan for his precious newborns and I vowed to discover the path to a healthy pregnancy and birth.
Ultimately, the search began with Faith. Faith that Yahweh created Man to reproduce and Woman to give birth to their offspring. The children of the Bible were healthy; the births were simple without peril.
Man over the centuries has turned birth into a technological nightmare. As the human race has become more and more puffed up with vain knowledge, we have taken a perfectly created world and turned it into a nightmare of disease, malnutrition, and unholy imperfection. The dilemma, in my humble opinion, is to turn back to the original creation and seek divine wisdom.
Yahweh is simple, but complex. A human baby is a complex miracle. A healthy baby is as simple as a well-nourished pregnancy that avoids substances manufactured or altered by man.
Over thirty years ago, I gave birth to my first child in a hospital without drugs. I did this in spite of a caring and compassionate staff: for they did not know how to be supportive of a woman performing the natural function of giving birth without drugs or technology. After nine months of nurturing my healthy, beautiful son in my womb, he was snatched from my arms to be poked and prodded "for his own good". I knew there had to be a better way.
I thought that having a baby at home had to be better than a hospital managed birth; so I immersed myself in tons of childbirth books and a number of midwifery workshops only to discover that my initial belief was true - Homebirth is better. Yahweh's divine plan for birth is best!
I couldn't find a midwife to deliver my second child, so, after much thought, preparation and prayer, my husband and I decided to birth at home with the help and support of our friends. Yahweh blessed us with a beautiful, healthy girl! Since then, I have had seven more children at home and have helped many other families in their quest for the healthiest, safest birth
I am not opposed to medical intervention. I just want to be sure that it is used only when absolutely necessary and under Yahweh's blessing. Mothers who care about the health of their baby eat well during pregnancy, receive prenatal care and carefully consider their options for each pregnancy. If a medical problem arises such that the hospital would be a safer place for a particular delivery a caring Mother will choose the hospital.
